HANDING OVER OF TWO BEDROOM HOUSE TO NATIONAL BEST FISHERMAN

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD) has handed over a two bedroom house to 2021 Overall National Best Fisherman.

 The ceremony which was held in Apam on Tuesday August 20th, 2024 at the premises of the two bedroom house, marked a significant milestone in fulfilling and honouring government's pledge to the 2021 Overall National Best Fisherman, Mr. Kweku Ehun.

 Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MOFAD), Hon. Musah Abdul Aziz, who represented his boss Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, congratulated the awardee and reiterated that, this symbolises government's commitment to our fishing sector. 



He advised the Fisherfolks and stakeholders to take the work serious as it is growing. He revealed that the Apam Fishing Harbour which the government has asked Koreans to conduct the feasibility studies will soon be started. The District Chief Executive of Apam, Hon. Bismark Baisie Incoom also spoke about the landing site in Mumford in the Central Region which has been started but not completed. 



He pleaded that it should be completed. "We have picked some of our youths to educate them on how to make fish ponds to grown and feed the fishes" he added. The Awardee, Mr. Kweku Ehun, thanked MOFA for such an honour. 

"This is unprecedented in the history of Gomoa West and MOFA. This is the doing of the Lord !" he disclosed. He made a plea to the Ministry to invent new technologies into the fishing sector to make it mordenized as the world grows
