Madina Fire Commander Launches Massive 30-Day Crackdown on Market Women and Trotros!
Story by Azaglo Michael
In a bold move to tackle chronic congestion and ensure public safety, the newly appointed Madina Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade Two (DO II) Abdullai Salia, has officially assumed office with a massive, month-long enforcement operation.
Launched today, July 1st, the 30-day crackdown aims to clear market women operating in front of the fire station and along the busy highway. For years, illegal trading and commercial trotro drivers blocking major traffic arteries have severely hindered emergency response times.
Stopping trotro drivers from unauthorized roadside passenger drops.
Enforcing the mandatory use of the pedestrian footbridge.
According to DO II Salia, the current gridlock poses a severe threat to national security and fire safety. The obstruction prevents emergency fire trucks from navigating the municipality quickly during critical, life-or-death situations.
Furthermore, the operation targets jaywalkers. Fire officers are now deployed alongside local authorities to ensure pedestrians stop dodging traffic and instead utilize the available footbridge to prevent avoidable fatalities.
"This transformation exercise isn't a solo effort. Commander Salia is working in close coordination with the Madina Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to ensure drastic, lasting changes."
