AWLN has called on women to champion peace towards the upcoming elections


The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) has called on Ghanaians especially women to champion peace and refrain from any activities that would cause violence in the upcoming elections.


Adressing to the congregation Dr. Charity Binka, Chairperson of the African Women Leaders Network Ghana indicated that Ghana needs peace And the organisation want to make a strong call to action to all women, all leaders, and all citizens of Ghana "Let us be the torchbearers of peace as we head towards the 2024 historic elections" she noted.


Also One of the pillars of AWLN is Peace and Security. That is why the organizations is obliged to add voice to the call for peace. As we approach the crucial 2024 elections, we are reminded that democracy flourishes in environments of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. 'Now, more than ever, the role of women in cultivating and sustaining peace cannot be overstated" she emphasized 



Furthermore Madam Charity revealed that African Women Leaders Network is a ground-breaking movement of African Women leaders that was established in 2017. It is a joint initiative of the African Union and the United Nations and also AWLN has a goal of creating a continent-wide women's movement led by women and for women. It primary aim is to enhance women's leadership across diverse backgrounds for the transformation of Africa into a peaceful and inclusive continent.


AWLN anchors its action in six pillars, namely; Governance and Political Participation, Peace and Security, Financial Inclusion, Young Women Leadership, Empowering Rural Women, and Social Mobilisation. 


Speaking Madam Charity disclosed that AWLN Ghana Chapter was launched on Wednesday, 9th November 2022 as the 31st member of the Network and 

One of the pillars of AWLN is Peace and Security. 



That is why we feel obliged to add our voice to the call for peace. Now, more than ever, the role of women in cultivating and sustaining peace cannot be overstated." She stated 


She further called on all women to be the torchbearers of peace towards the 2024 historic elections.

"Women of Ghana, the time has come for us to rise and take our place as peacebuilders in our communities, families, and institutions" she noted 



Also democracy can go hand-in-hand.

We the foundation of our strength, resilience, and wisdom. 

"Peace does not belong to one person; it belongs to all of us. Every woman in Ghana has a role to play in ensuring that peace prevails in the days leading to, during, and after the elections" she informed 



Madam Charity further urge all women to take on the mantle of leadership in this critical moment to Become Peace Ambassadors inCommunities amd Engage with neighbors, colleagues, and family members to promote peace, tolerance, and constructive dialogue. 

Be the voice that says "no" to violence and "yes" to peaceful solutions he stated
