Chemotherapy and breast cancer awareness launched at Tema General Hospital.



Tema General Hospital, on the 1st of October in Accra, has officially launched the chemotherapy centre aim at treating breast cancer patients and to commemorate breast cancer awareness month (pinkoctober).


Speaking at the launch the medical Director for Tema general Hospital Dr.Richard Anthony noted that the hospital already had a chemotherapy centre since 2019 but today marks the official opening of it to celebrate the breast cancer awareness month which is in October. 


He further expressed his excitement towards this launch, which is going to help many with breast cancer treatment. 


The Chairperson Dr.sally Quartey, also indicated that the launch of the breast cancer awareness month in the hospital continues to the 31st of October and this time around there is going to be more engagement with patients and the public about breast cancer. 



October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is marked in countries across the world, and helps to increase attention and support for awareness, early diagnosis, and treatment as well as palliative care for women facing this disease.


Rita Apia, senior specialist psychologist,Tema general hospital disclosed that some Symptoms of breast cancer can include a breast lump or thickening, often without pain, change in size.
