GALAMSEY ARREST IN EASTERN REGION; POLICE ARRESTED 11 PEOPLE

 


The operation took place following a tip-off concerning some activities of illegal mining at Fichser, where acreage of tree plantations has all been affected. The arrested individuals include nine Ghanaian nationals and two citizens of Burkina Faso.




The Ghanaians have been identified as Kwaku Owusu (42), Philip Tetteh (52), Abdul Raham (27), Philip Duvor (40), Joseph Asare (32), Charles Manu (35), Joseph Araboga (32), Daniel Bangah (20), and Amoaho Isaac (25). The two Burkinabe suspects are Jey Done (40) and Adoma Aboubakar (25).


During the operation, the regional police command also seized an excavator, which is now in police custody. All eleven suspects are currently detained and are being processed for court.




The Eastern South Regional police commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ohene Boadi Bossman, has been speaking to the media in Kyebi.
