UG School of Performing Arts Appeals for Bus After Fire Incident

The Dean of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Dr. Synamon Kwashie Kumor, has issued an urgent appeal to the government, corporate philanthropists, and the public for a new operational bus to support nationwide outreach programs.


The request follows a devastating incident where the department's previous 16-seater bus caught fire and burned to ashes en route to Winneba. 


Since the loss, transporting students outside Accra for field presentations and educational tours has become severely compromised.


Dr. Kumor highlighted the department's critical need for support during a recent donation ceremony, where alumnus Ewura Adams Kareem presented 260 chairs to the school.


"It's difficult transporting students from Accra to different regions without a bus," Dr. Kumor noted, expressing deep gratitude for Kareem's contribution while calling on like-minded individuals to assist with logistics.


Kareem urged fellow alumni both in Ghana and abroad to step forward and support their alma mater, particularly regarding the urgent vehicle request.


"Arts play a very important role in Ghanaian society, and we can’t leave it to die," Kareem stated, emphasizing that his donation was driven by a desire to give back to the institution that shaped his professional career.
