Chairman Dollar exonerated as Transport Minister confirms no guilt in KIA Cocaine Scandal

Eric Nartey Yeboah, the Second Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Region NPP, also known as Chairman Dollar, has been exonerated in the high-profile cocaine smuggling case at Kotoka International Airport.

Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah reportedly confirmed that the implicated Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) staff, including Yeboah, were cleared of any wrongdoing following a thorough investigation. He added that if any of the suspended staff had been found guilty, the public would have been duly informed.

The scandal, involving the transportation of 8.5 kilograms of cocaine on a Royal Air Maroc flight, led to the arrest of a Dutch national in Belgium. Initial reports hinted at the involvement of GACL employees, sparking widespread concerns and calls for accountability.

However, during a session with Parliament’s Assurance Committee, Minister Asiamah refused to name the suspended officers, citing their exoneration as the reason for withholding further details.

This stance has frustrated some senior GACL staff, who believe transparency should prevail in such cases.

staff continue to push for clarity, emphasizing the importance of openness in maintaining public trust.
