Ridge hospital Observes Mental Health Awareness Week.


The Greater Accra Regional Hospital has marked Mental Health Awareness Week with a call to action, urging the public to prioritize mental health and seek help when needed.


According to Anne Mensah-Kufuo, Head of the Clinical Psychology Center, the event aims to promote mental health awareness and empower individuals to take control of their mental well-being.

Mensah kufuo noted that mental health knowledge is low in Ghana, and the organization has been working to address this gap since 2019. This year's theme, "Mental Health Matters: Empowering Life, Inspiring Hope," focuses on promoting awareness and encouraging individuals to seek help.


The Mental Health Authority has made significant strides in empowering individuals by providing free mental health care services. Mensah Kufuo emphasized the importance of accessing care and completing treatment.


The event brought together a cross-section of hospital staff, who will disseminate mental health information to their colleagues and departments. Mensah-Kofor encouraged the public to prioritize mental health, especially during the upcoming election period.


She advised individuals to think beyond the election and prioritize their mental well-being. "See it as Ghana beyond the election," she said. "You'll be calm and collected, and whatever the outcome is, you would accept it in good faith and move on."

Mr.Scoffray Nana yaw Yeboah, transformational Coach and prez for ICF Ghana chapter, also addressed the role of religious institutions in mental health care. While some institutions provide valuable support, others take advantage of vulnerable individuals. She emphasized the need for religious leaders to engage with mental health professionals and provide proper guidance to their congregations.


The Mental Health Awareness Week serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health and seeking help when needed. By empowering individuals and promoting awareness, Ghana can work towards a healthier and more supportive society.



Participants of the Psychology Week celebration received comprehensive training on assertive skills, anger management, stress management, and executive functions to promote their well-being and enhance patient care.
