He urged these leaders to use their influence to educate communities about the long-term consequences of illegal mining, also known as "galamsey," and to promote ethical practices that align with national development goals.
Furthermore, Rev. Azaglo acknowledged that while corruption in the mining sector may not be entirely eradicated, it can be significantly reduced through the implementation of effective policies and accountability mechanisms. He called on the government, civil society, and all stakeholders to work collaboratively in ensuring transparency and sustainability in the natural resource sector.
He reiterated that addressing corruption requires a collective commitment to integrity and truth, which should guide decision-making at all levels of society, including the government.
Rev. Azaglo concluded by urging the youth to be vigilant and actively participate in the fight against illegal mining and corruption, as their future depends on the responsible management of Ghana’s natural resources.
