Ebenezer Senior High School Joins 350 Ghana and 350 Africa in Celebrating Africa Week with Renewable Energy Awareness Campaign
In celebration of Africa Week, environmental advocacy groups 350 Ghana and 350 Africa partnered with Ebenezer Senior High School in Dansoman to raise awareness about renewable energy and champion the global movement toward sustainable development.
The collaboration aimed to educate students and the wider community on the importance of embracing clean energy sources such as solar and wind power. As part of the initiative, the school hosted a campaign under the theme “100% Renewable Energy Powered Schools”—a vision aligned with the broader mission of creating a greener, energy-resilient Ghana.

Speaking in an interview, Miss .Regina Baiden, Regional Director for 350 Africa, highlighted the rationale behind the chosen theme. “We believe in leaving no one behind in the energy transition. This theme was deliberately selected to promote inclusivity and encourage national ownership of clean energy solutions,” she said.
Miss Baiden emphasized the transformative potential of renewable energy, stating, “Awareness creation around renewable energy is a game changer for Ghana’s economy. It presents a critical opportunity to bridge the gap in energy access, boost productivity, and ultimately reduce poverty nationwide.
"It’s time we begin to see renewable energy as a national priority and embrace this full Advocacy for increased investment in renewable energy for educational institutions.Raise awareness of the government’s 10% RE target by 2030 and encourage immediate action.Developed Renewable Energy educational tracts to educate communities and students.Mobilize youth, civil society organizations, and policymakers to commit "she stated.
She further urged the public and government to adopt a proactive mindset toward renewable energy development and commit to a 100% renewable energy future for Ghana.

Echoing the call to action,Adjoa Achiaa Kesse- Sam,Team lead for RE Power Ghana , appealed to civil society organizations, NGOs, and stakeholders to join the campaign to shift the narrative around clean energy and environmental health.
"Every year on Africa Day, we come together to celebrate our beautiful continent. Home to many natural wonders, diverse cultures, and powerful voices, Africa is loved by all its people. From 19–25 May, we come together for AfrikaVuka Week to celebrate the fight for justice and a clean energy future. From Ghana, Kenya Benin to Togo, South Africa to Egypt, the Afrika Vuka network in creating awareness through story telling in art as we call for: “Our energy, our power, our future.”
“We need collective action. It is only through collaboration that we can protect our environment, improve public health, and secure a sustainable future for all,” Adjoa noted.
