RMU Celebrates Skilled Workforce at 7th Forklift & Mobile Crane Graduation
The Regional Maritime University (RMU) has successfully held its 7th graduation ceremony for trainees in forklift and mobile crane operations under the theme: “Skilled Labour for Accelerated Industrialization.”
Addressing the gathering, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks Jr., emphasized the significance of the event, noting that it not only celebrates the graduates’ hard work, resilience, and dedication but also underscores RMU’s commitment to skills development as a critical catalyst for economic transformation.

“This graduation comes at an opportune time,” Dr. Brooks stated. “RMU is strategically positioned to create opportunities for its trainees. As part of our mandate, we are committed to training a generation of highly skilled workers who will contribute to modern industry and national progress.”
He further highlighted the university’s collaborative efforts with the Government of Ghana and the National Youth Authority to equip the country’s youth with relevant and employable skills essential for sustainable development.

In a show of private sector support, the Chairman and CEO of Rabotec Group, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, pledged continued partnership with RMU in promoting skills training across the nation. He also announced a commitment to offer employment opportunities to at least 50% of the graduating class, aiming to curb youth unemployment in Ghana.
The impact of the training program resonated through the testimonies of graduates. Akosua Safo Yamoah, a professional nurse at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed her excitement about acquiring new technical skills, describing it as a valuable addition to her career.

Similarly, Agbeyenga Prince, a private driver, shared his motivation for enrolling in the forklift course, saying it was a strategic move to position himself for emerging job opportunities in the industrial sector.
