Dr. David Ofosu-Dorte Urges Graduates to Apply Knowledge to Solve Real African Problems"

Renowned legal expert and Senior Partner at AB & David Law Africa, Dr. David Ofosu-Dorte, has issued a compelling charge to the 2025 doctoral graduates of Nobel International Business School (NiBS), urging them to translate their academic achievements into practical solutions that address Africa’s pressing challenges.

‎Delivering the keynote address at the university’s graduation ceremony held in Accra, Dr. Ofosu-Dorte, himself an alumnus of NiBS, emphasized that knowledge must be applied within context to be transformative.

‎“You must solve African problems with African ideas. Knowledge must be practical and contextual, or it will only help you repeat the teachings of others without impact,” he stated.

‎According to him, the true value of a doctoral degree lies not in the title but in the transformation it brings to communities, institutions, and society at large. He warned against the uncritical application of foreign models, stressing that many African leaders fail because they adopt solutions that do not align with local realities.

‎“Applying foreign solutions without understanding the local system will lead to failure,” he said.

‎Dr. Ofosu-Dorte encouraged the Class of 2025 to embrace leadership as a responsibility, not merely a status symbol. He underscored that real leadership is rooted in understanding and addressing the problems within one’s environment.

‎In a candid reminder of post-academic life, he told graduates to brace themselves for the challenges ahead from professional pressures to personal responsibilities.

‎“The problems you left before you came here today are still waiting for you. Your new title is not magic. It is just a tool,” he said, urging them to remain grounded despite their academic accolades.

‎He concluded with a strong call to action, encouraging the graduates to channel their education toward creating impact.

‎“Real transformation is when you use knowledge to change your society and help others rise.

‎ Transformation is not about tomorrow. It is about solving yesterday’s problems today and making them useful for the future.”

‎The ceremony marked a significant milestone for NiBS and its graduating class, who were reminded that their greatest achievement lies not in their titles, but in their ability to lead change with courage, passion, and purpose.
