Men Urged to Support Women Throughout Pregnancy – Salvation Army Health Center Advocates Maternal Wellness

 


Community members listen attentively during a health outreach program organized by the Salvation Army Health Center to mark Children’s Health Promoting Day.


As part of activities marking this year’s Children’s Health Promoting Day, the Salvation Army Health Center has called on men to play active and supportive roles during their partners’ pregnancy journey.



The sensitization event, held at the health center, focused on maternal and child health with an emphasis on shared responsibility in pregnancy and postnatal care.

Addressing participants, Mrs. Pamila Ayika, a public health nurse, underscored the importance of empowering women during pregnancy, stating that the wellbeing of both mothers and babies depends significantly on proper nutrition, regular medical check-ups, and emotional support. "Women must take responsibility for their health by eating right and adhering to scheduled antenatal visits," she emphasized.

Mrs. Agatha Esel, Director of the Salvation Army Health Center, echoed the call for increased male involvement. She expressed concern over the trend of absentee fathers during pregnancy and childbirth, urging men to stand by their partners throughout the journey. “Men must not abandon their partners during this critical period. Their support is crucial for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery,” she said.




Mrs. Esel further encouraged the public to prioritize their health and desist from consuming harmful substances.

Attendees, including both men and women, shared positive reflections on the event, highlighting the need for continuous education on maternal health and community support systems.
