CILAG Marks 10th Anniversary with Empowerment Summit and Dinner, Advocates Support for Childhood Cancer and Women in Insurance ‎

‎The Chartered Insurance Ladies Association Ghana (CILAG) has marked its 10th anniversary with a high-level summit and dinner event in Accra, themed “A Decade of Excellence: Shaping, Empowering, and Securing the Future of Professional Ladies in Insurance.” The milestone celebration was also dedicated to raising awareness and support for childhood cancer initiatives.

‎The event provided a platform for dynamic discussions centered on the unique challenges faced by professional women in the insurance industry and society at large. Key topics included:

‎Empowering Women to Navigate the Corporate Ladder, and

‎The Role of Female Professionals in Driving Growth Within the Insurance Sector.

‎Speaking with the press, President of CILAG, Lady Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah, reflected on the association's decade-long journey, emphasizing its core mission of empowering, motivating, and developing female insurance professionals across Ghana.

President of CILAG, Lady Nicholina Naa Yeye Adumuah,

‎“We are here not only to celebrate 10 years of excellence, but to thank God for how far He has brought us in shaping the lives of women beyond the insurance profession,” Lady Nicholina said.

‎She further highlighted CILAG’s commitment to fostering leadership, skill development, and value-driven contribution among women.

‎“We come to the table not because of affirmative action, but because of the skills, values, and capabilities we bring,” she affirmed.

‎Lady Nicholina reiterated that leadership requires intentional commitment and tenacity, expressing her desire to continue mentoring young women in the insurance sector. She also noted that CILAG’s impact extends beyond the profession, citing successful outreach programs including donations to orphanages and support for children battling cancer.

‎The event also featured a powerful address by the Commissioner of Insurance, Lady Dr. Abiba Zakariah, who underscored the critical contribution of women to Ghana's economy. She expressed concern about the large number of working women who remain uninsured, stressing the need for industry inclusivity and accessible financial services.

Commissioner of Insurance, Lady Dr. Abiba Zakariah,

‎“Fifty percent of Ghana’s working population are women, yet many cannot access insurance. This means their years of labor may end in vain without proper protection,” she stated.

‎She encouraged women to cultivate a strong ethical foundation in areas such as communication, professional appearance, and emotional intelligence, while also urging them to explore advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to remain competitive in today’s workplace.

‎“Women must be intentional about self-development and adding value, especially in AI and digital skills,” she concluded.

‎The 10th anniversary celebration of CILAG not only highlighted the strides made in empowering women in insurance but also reinforced the association’s ongoing mission to build a more inclusive and resilient industry
