‎GRNMA President Urges Inclusion of Key Allowances in Mid-Year Budget

The President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, has issued a strong call to government, urging the employer to reconsider its stance and prioritize two critical demands submitted by the association in the upcoming mid-year budget review.

‎Speaking on behalf of the association, Mrs. Ofori-Ampofo emphasized the importance of including the 8% non-basic allowance, which she described as a vital component of the welfare package for nurses and midwives across the country. She noted that the reasons given for the exclusion of the allowance are "untenable" and fall short of addressing the concerns raised by healthcare professionals.

‎She further stated that the leadership of GRNMA remains open to dialogue and will participate in the scheduled meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on Tuesday, July 15, to discuss a constructive path forward.

‎The GRNMA President's remarks come at a time when healthcare workers are increasingly calling for improved conditions of service, particularly in the face of rising economic challenges.
