‎Rotary Club Accra-Airport East Holds Handover & Fundraiser Ceremony with Focus on Youth Empowerment and Community Impact

The Rotary Club of Accra-Airport East has officially held its Handover and Fundraising Ceremony, marking a significant leadership transition and renewed commitment to community transformation.

‎In a historic moment, Mr. Benjamin Kofi Baafi, the incoming president and the first-ever police officer to serve in this role within the club, expressed profound gratitude to members and leadership for their unwavering support as he assumes office.

‎“I am not diverting from the solid foundation already laid, especially regarding the girl-child initiative,” Mr. Baafi stated. “We are now expanding this vision into a broader Youth Empowerment Project that will also include young boys, with focus areas such as fashion, engineering, and entrepreneurship.”

‎According to Mr. Baafi, the initiative will offer structured mentorship and a six-month internship program, supported by partners across various industries. He emphasized his goal to increase club membership, deepen community engagement, and build stronger partnerships for sustainable development.

‎He also made a heartfelt appeal to well-meaning Ghanaian to join hands with the Rotary Club in executing transformative projects that benefit communities nationwide.

‎Outgoing President Mr. William Ajaboe, the club’s 4th president, also addressed the gathering. Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted the club’s collaborations with international Rotary branches and the impact of mentorship programs in technical institutes such as the one in Teshie.

‎“Over the past three years, we’ve placed several young people under mentorship programs through our cohorts, equipping them with practical skills and long-term guidance,” Mr. Ajaboe said.

‎He further revealed ongoing Rotary initiatives aimed at disease prevention, with a special focus on reducing prostate cancer among men aged 40 and above. Mr. Ajaboe called for increased collaboration between Rotary Clubs and the Ministry of Health to enhance the reach and effectiveness of such campaigns.

‎As he handed over the mantle, Mr. Ajaboe urged the new leadership to build upon the strong foundation laid and to continue the momentum of impactful service.

‎The event concluded with a call for unity, collaboration, and continued service as the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport East embarks on a new chapter of leadership and community engagement.
