A tragic helicopter crash involving the Ghana Armed Forces has claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two high-ranking government ministers. The incident occurred in the Sikaman Forest, located in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.
Among the victims were Ghana’s . Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah,
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
Dr Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman, NDC.
Mr Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate.
Squadron Leader Peter.
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu.

According to information gathered by Nation 1 News,President John Dramani Mahama was initially scheduled to board the ill-fated military aircraft en route to Obuasi, where he was expected to launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP). However, sources confirm that the president made a last-minute decision to cancel his participation, delegating the responsibility to Dr. Omane-Boamah.
A video circulating from the event venue shows the president’s image on the official event banner, reinforcing reports of his planned attendance. Eyewitness accounts also confirm that guests were informed of President Mahama’s absence shortly before the programme began.
The Ghana Armed Forces have yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the crash, and investigations are reportedly underway.
In a dramatic moment captured at the event, Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, announced his abrupt departure from the venue after receiving news of the crash. He informed attendees that he had to urgently respond to the unfolding tragedy.
