Weija-Gbawe MP Honors Hand of God International School at Graduation, Advocates for Quality Education and System Reform
The Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, paid a courtesy visit to the Hand of God International School to participate in the school’s graduation ceremony, celebrating the academic achievements of its students.
In his address to students, graduates, parents, and staff, Hon. Jerry emphasized the pivotal role education plays in shaping a person’s future.
“Education is the key that opens several doors in life. Without it, even articulating yourself in Parliament becomes difficult. How then can you effectively represent your constituency?” he remarked.
He encouraged the students to be attentive in class and show discipline in their academic pursuits, adding that he envisions some of them becoming future Members of Parliament, Presidents, and lawyers.
The MP also commended the teachers for their dedication and called on them to uphold high standards in their teaching practices.
“Education is critical for national development. Teachers must be committed to delivering quality education that can prepare students for a brighter future,” he stated.
Joining the celebration, the proprietress of Hand of God International School, Madam Rose Addy, expressed profound gratitude to God for a successful graduation event. She also highlighted some challenges faced by private schools, including lack of parental support and student punctuality.
Madam Addy appealed to the government for reforms in Ghana’s education sector, especially policies that empower private schools to operate more freely. She also advocated for provisions that would support brilliant but underprivileged children in accessing quality education.
The event was marked by vibrant performances, speeches, and awards as the school celebrated its commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development.
