The MaryMaud Charity Foundation, under the leadership of L.P. MaryMaud Ankobiah, has extended its philanthropic mission to two orphanages in the Central Region of Ghana . ‎ ‎The Freedom Care Foundation in Ewutu Fianko and the Countryside Orphanage in Bojiase. This marks the foundation’s fifth outreach initiative aimed at supporting needy individuals across the country. ‎ ‎During the visit, the foundation donated a variety of essential supplies, including educational materials, food and beverages, clothing, and footwear. In addition, all children at the Freedom Care Foundation benefitted from a free National Health Insurance registration exercise.                       Press Statement ‎The Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) and the Africa Water Justice Network (AWJN) have observed with deep concern the recent proposal by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) seeking a record 280% increment in water tariffs, citing the rising cost of operations. ‎ ‎While we acknowledge the grave challenge that illegal mining (“galamsey”) poses to Ghana’s water resources, we strongly caution against using tariff increments as the sole remedy to what is, in fact, a systemic, multifaceted crisis.
