The Boulevard Francophone Association, in collaboration with the ABF Foundation, has announced a major initiative to promote French language education in Ghana through an upcoming inter-school quiz competition scheduled from September 26 to October 31, 2025.
As a dedicated Francophone non-governmental organization, the Boulevard Francophone Association and ABF Foundation have long been committed to uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds while implementing impactful social programs. Their initiatives span across empowering young women with entrepreneurship skills, supporting education through back-to-school donations, addressing teenage pregnancy, and promoting health and self-hygiene awareness.
Speaking to Nation 1 News, the Founder and President, Ms. Queenel Delali Kukey, emphasized the urgent need to prioritize French education in Ghana.
“Ghana is surrounded by French-speaking countries, yet we have not taken the language seriously. Beyond promoting community education, we also extend support to less privileged communities. We call on government and like-minded organizations to partner with us in reshaping the narrative of French education, which remains an internationally recognized language.”
Ms. Kukey further urged parents, teachers, and school heads to provide students with the necessary resources and encouragement ahead of the quiz competition.
,Mr Tchitchi KONDO-AYIGA, Head of Foreign Languages Secretariat at the Ministry of Education, and President of the Ghana Association of French Teachers, GAFT, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and aligned with the government’s agenda to enhance multilingual education in Ghana.
“This effort supports Ghana’s policy direction to expand language learning while boosting intra-African trade with our Francophone neighbors. The Ministry of Education remains committed to strengthening French language education as part of national policy,” he stated.
Excitement is already building among participating students, with many expressing appreciation for the platform and pledging to give their best during the competition.
With Ghana’s strategic position in West Africa, this initiative by the Boulevard Francophone Association and ABF Foundation represents a crucial step toward breaking language barriers and strengthening regional integration.
