Comboni Vocational Technical Institute Wins 2025 TVET National Choral Festival

Comboni Vocational Technical Institute has emerged as the overall winner of the maiden edition of the 2025 National Invitation TVET Choral Festival, organized under the theme “Harmonizing Skills Through Music.” The event, hosted by the Ghana TVET Service, brought together top-performing institutions to showcase how music can complement skills training and holistic student development.
Speaking to the media, Mr.Eric K. Teteh, Lead for Physical Education, Sports, Arts and Culture at the Ghana TVET Service, explained that the festival aims to help students discover and nurture their God-given potentials. According to him, exposing learners to creative avenues such as music enhances their confidence and reveals hidden talents beyond their core technical training.
Mr. Teteh added that certificates awarded during the festival could open doors for students in the future, contributing to both their personal and professional growth. He revealed that ten institutions from five regions were invited for the first edition, with Comboni Vocational Technical Institute earning the top spot. He commended the trainers for their hard work and expressed hope that participation will expand to all 16 regions in 2026 for an even bigger event.
The Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations at the Ghana TVET Service, Mrs. Afi Agbeyan, highlighted the initiative as a key contribution to building well-rounded young people. She emphasized that integrating music into learning supports inclusive development, helping students carry positive energy into their workplaces.
Mrs. Agbeyan further noted that programs like the choral festival also encourage students to stay focused, cultivate joy, and abstain from negative behaviours such as drug abuse, sexual misconduct, and other harmful activities,especially in challenging times. She expressed optimism for increased participation in subsequent years, stating that empowering young people through music contributes significantly to nation-building.
The choir director for Comboni Vocational Technical Institute, Mr. Eric Kwame, said their victory did not come as a surprise, as the team had prepared thoroughly despite tough competition. He expressed hope that the school will continue winning for the next five years to maintain the trophy before it rotates to another institution.
The maiden TVET National Choral Festival has set a strong foundation for using music as a tool to enhance creativity, discipline, and holistic growth among Ghanaian youth.
