‎Ghana Government, GISPA Forge Strong Partnership to Boost Digital Connectivity and Cut Data Costs ‎

‎The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering strong, affordable, and secure digital infrastructure across the country, with particular focus on expanding broadband access in underserved communities, enhancing service quality, and strengthening digital public services.



‎This commitment was highlighted at the GISPA Internet Conference 2025, organised by the Ghana Internet Service Providers Association (GISPA) under the theme: “Ghana’s Digital Future: Leveraging Policy, Infrastructure and the Strategic Role of GIX.”


‎Speaking to the media, GISPA President, Mr. Michael Komla Kumah Nfodzo, explained that the association is keen on supporting government’s digital transformation agenda. He noted that GISPA is paying close attention to consumer complaints regarding high data costs and inconsistent service quality.

‎He added that the conference provides a platform to explore collaborative solutions that will help ISPs meet consumer expectations nationwide.


‎Representing the Ministry of Communication, Digital, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Samuel Antwi-Gyekyi, Director of Digital Technology, emphasized the need for deeper cooperation among private sector players through interconnectivity. He also underscored the ministry’s commitment to strengthening national resilience and ensuring digital systems deliver economic benefits while reducing operational risks and cost burdens.

‎Dr. Antwi-Gyekyi further revealed that the ministry is accelerating reforms in key areas, including data localization, domestic cloud services, and open-access policies to reduce reliance on foreign infrastructure.

‎Adding her perspective, Estelle Akofio-Sowah, West Africa Regional Director, expressed her excitement about the government’s renewed involvement, stating that well-structured policies will create an enabling environment for improved performance and innovation among all digital stakeholders.



‎Some conference participants also shared their optimism, saying the initiative has the potential to transform Ghana’s digital landscape and drive meaningful change in the sector.
