Accra to Become West Africa’s Leadership Hub: Ghana Hosts 12th District 94 Toastmasters Conference
Story by Azaglo Michael
The spotlight of West African leadership is shifting to Accra this month as Ghana prepares to host the 12th District 94 Toastmasters International Conference.
From April 29 to May 2, 2026, over 500 delegates from 12+ nations and the global diaspora will gather under the powerful theme: "Lead With Purpose, Speak to Impact."
The four-day summit, centered at the Destiny Arena, marks a significant milestone for the region, returning to Ghana for the second time in seven years.
This isn’t just a gathering for public speakers; it is a strategic response to a changing global landscape.
The 2026 conference will tackle high-stakes modern challenges, including:
The Rise of Artificial Intelligence: Navigating the tech-human interface.
Cultural Transitions: Leading through regional shifts.
Geopolitical Dynamics: Strengthening Africa's voice on the world stage.
"Accra 2026 is where stories meet strategy and purpose meets impact," says Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Fatou Sakho, District Director.
"Africa is ready to host the world and showcase leadership the African way: warm, bold, and transformational."
The "Akwaaba" Experience
Conference Chair Dr. Suzy Aku Puplampu, DTM, highlighted the prestige of the event, noting that the return to Ghana reflects the country’s growing influence within the Toastmasters network.
This sentiment was echoed by Ibrahim Sory Keita, DTM, who promised an "unforgettable Akwaaba experience" for the international delegates arriving from nations including Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, and beyond.
For Papa Arkhurst, DTM, a pioneer in the Ghanaian Toastmasters community, the event represents a trifecta of excellence:
The proven Toastmasters culture of communication.
A bold display of African excellence.
High-Stakes Competition & Elite Keynotes
The event will reach its crescendo with the International Speech Contest, where the region's most formidable orators will compete for the district title.
Beyond the lectern, the conference features an elite lineup of business titans and industry leaders, including:
Chief Alhassan Andani, Board Chairman, Ecobank Ghana.
David Ofosu-Dorte, Founder and Executive Chairman, AB & David Africa.
Julian Opuni, Managing Director, Fidelity Bank Ghana.
Kwamina Asomaning, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank Ghana.
The summit will conclude with a Hall of Fame Recognition Ceremony and Gala Night, celebrating the achievements of leaders who have made significant strides in public service and professional development.
As the continent looks toward a future defined by rapid innovation, the Accra 2026 Toastmasters Conference stands as a vital platform for the next generation of African leaders to connect, learn, and inspire global change.
