‎McDan Foundation and International Partners Alleviate Hunger for 5,000 Widows in Accra ‎

Story by Azaglo Michael

‎In a powerful display of philanthropy and global collaboration, tandhe McDan  Foundation has once again stepped forward to support the vulnerable. On Friday, April 10, 2026, the foundation hosted its annual Widows Support Program in La, Greater Accra, providing a critical lifeline to over 5,000 women facing economic hardship.

‎The event drew beneficiaries from eight key communities across the Greater Accra Region, including La, Teshie, Nungua, and Osu. Each participant received essential food supplies, including:

‎Bags of rice and Gari

‎Assorted drinks and potable water

‎Comprehensive health screenings for hypertension and diabetes

‎This year’s initiative was bolstered by a strategic partnership with the RIDNE Food Consortium of Ukraine. Michael Penrose, Director of the International Advisory Committee for Ukraine, lauded Dr. Daniel McKorley’s unwavering commitment.

Penrose noted that Dr. McKorley’s own "grass-to-grace" story, beginning on the streets, serves as a profound inspiration for his humanitarian work.

‎Partnering on the healthcare front, Dr. Kelechi Ugah, Co-founder of the Viva Health Medical Foundation, emphasized that the collaboration is a vital "quota-sharing" initiative aimed at saving lives through early detection and medical intervention for the elderly and widowed.

‎For many, the intervention was more than just a donation; it was a beacon of hope. Mrs. Elizabeth Ama Boateng, who lost her husband a year ago, shared her gratitude:

‎"This support is incredibly timely. Losing a spouse brings many burdens, and knowing that there are organizations that truly care makes the weight much lighter."

‎Dr. Daniel McKorley (popularly known as "McDan") announced that the foundation’s mission is far from over.

Plans are already in motion to scale the program nationally, targeting regions such as:

‎The Northern Region

‎Kumasi (Ashanti Region)

‎Aflao (Volta Region).

‎Furthermore, the partnership aims to look beyond Ghanaian borders, with prospective outreach programs planned for East African countries in the near future.

As economic pressures continue to affect the most vulnerable, the McDan  Foundation and its partners remain dedicated to ensuring that no widow is left to face hunger or health challenges alone.
