The Office of the Women’s Commissioner of TESCON GIMPA has successfully organized a high-energy health walk aimed at tackling the rising tide of drug abuse among the youth.

The event, which drew scores of students and party sympathizers, served as a platform for both physical fitness and critical social advocacy.

‎The Fight Against Drug Abuse

‎The walk was designed to raise awareness about the devastating impact of substance abuse on the lives of young Ghanaians. Participants marched through key routes, carrying placards and chanting slogans to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

‎Addressing the gathering, the Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Hon. Sammy Awuku, commended the Women’s Commissioner for the initiative.

He issued a stern warning to the youth regarding the long-term consequences of drug addiction.

‎"Drug abuse is destroying the potential of many young people today," Awuku stated. "I call on every one of you to desist from these harmful habits and prioritize your health and your future."

‎Beyond health advocacy, the event took a political turn as Hon. Sammy Awuku addressed the current political climate.

He criticized the NDC government for what he characterized as the "abuse of power," specifically referencing the recent arrests of former government appointees.

‎Awuku cautioned that such actions do not go unnoticed and will eventually face the test of time and public judgment.

‎The Road to 2028

‎With an eye on the future, the MP appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful and TESCON members to remain steadfast and diligent.

He urged the base to work tirelessly toward returning the NPP to power in the 2028 General Elections, stressing that grassroots mobilization is the key to victory.

‎The health walk concluded at the GIMPA campus with refreshment sessions and further networking, reinforcing the bond between the student wing and the national leadership.
