Dream hunt organized clean up exercise in dansoman Beach to observe world environmental day in Accra
Story by Azaglo Michael
As the global community faces mounting ecological challenges, local action is proving to be the ultimate game-changer. In Accra, a powerful new alliance is taking a stand for the coastline.
In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, Dream Hunt, in a strategic partnership with Cummins Ghana and Wesley Grammar School, embacked on a massive eco-initiative. Aligned with this year's global theme, "Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future," the stakeholders converged at the Dansoman Beach in Accra for a critical cleanup and sustainability drive.
Dansoman Beach, a vital coastal zone in the capital, was specifically selected due to urgent, ongoing sanitation challenges.
Speaking exclusively to the media, the Founder of Dream Hunt, Mrs. Portia Adu-Mensah, emphasized that the exercise was designed to yield long-term benefits rather than just a temporary fix.

By involving students from Wesley Grammar School, the initiative provided a hands-on, practical masterclass in environmental stewardship for the next generation.
The event also saw heavy institutional support, with the local District Assembly providing critical security backups, alongside a dedicated wave of community volunteers.
But Dream Hunt didn't just clear the existing waste; they provided the infrastructure to prevent it from returning.
"We cannot just clean and leave; we must build a culture of sustainability. The ocean constantly pushes waste back to our shores, making coastal sanitation a collective responsibility. We need to revive communal labor to maintain hygienic environments.
"To support this, we have donated specialized waste bins to the community to encourage waste segregation, with dedicated bins for paper, plastics, and organic food waste."
In addition to waste management, the partnership championed reforestation, planting trees along the corridor to promote a greener ecosystem.
Local leadership has warmly received the intervention.Expressing deep gratitude, the Assemblyman for the Glefe Area, Honorable Israel Mieledzi, noted that the community urgently requires continuous education to shift mindsets toward environmental preservation.

However, education will now be backed by strict enforcement.he stated
Hon. Israel Mieledzi (Assemblyman, Glefe):
"Change begins with a mindset shift, but it must be sustained by accountability. Moving forward, we are forming a dedicated task force. Anyone caught illegally dumping refuse or defacing this beach will be arrested and face the full rigor of legal action."
With a combination of youth education, infrastructure donation, tree planting, and upcoming legal enforcement, the Dream Hunt and Cummins Ghana partnership is setting a new blueprint for corporate and community-led climate action in Ghana.
