Passion for the Needy' Celebrates Prophet TB Joshua’s Birthday at Akropong School for the Blind
Story by Azaglo Michael
The spirit of humanitarianism continues to flourish as the "Passion for the Needy" organization, founded by the late Prophet TB Joshua of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), marks the founder's posthumous birthday with a significant act of charity.
In honor of Prophet TB Joshua, whose birthday is celebrated annually on June 12th, the organization extended its reach to the Akropong School for the Blind.
This gesture continues the late Prophet’s lifelong mandate to support underprivileged communities—a vision he established when he founded the organization in 2009.
Since his passing in 2021, the mission has been sustained under the leadership of Pastor Evelyn TB Joshua. Mrs. Janet Torgbor El-Aschkar, Chairperson and Director of "Passion for the Needy," noted that the organization’s foundation was built on the simple, yet profound instruction of the late Prophet: to seek out the sick and vulnerable and provide for their needs.

Over the years, the NGO has maintained a consistent impact, providing support to major medical facilities such as the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the 37 Military Hospital, and the Ridge Hospital, while also supporting inmates at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison and funding education for brilliant but needy students.
During the visit to the Akropong School for the Blind, the team, led by Pastor Evelyn TB Joshua, donated a substantial array of essential items, including:
Food Staples: 100 bags of rice, 400 loaves of fresh bread, 2 cartons of spaghetti, Gari, sugar, and salt
Provisions & Sanitation: Canned fish, eggs, tomato purée, cooking oil, onions, and drinking water.
Hygiene Essentials: Washing powder, toilet rolls, and liquid soap.
Mrs. Veronica Darie, Headmistress of the Akropong School for the Blind, expressed deep gratitude for the donation.
