GYAN Partners Sunny Skies Modern School to Mark UNESCO’s International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development

Accra, Ghana – The Groom Young Africa Network, GYAN, has partnered with Sunny Skies Modern School to observe the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development, an initiative by UNESCO.

‎
‎Speaking in an engagement with Nation 1 TV, the Founder and President of GYAN, Rev. Azaglo Fiakofi Michael, said the core mandate of the organization is to shape the aspired future of African youth.

‎“As an organization, we see the need to catch them young. At the tender age when children are exploring career choices, we must equip them with the right values and skills to make a difference wherever they find themselves,” Rev. Michael stated.
‎



‎During the program, GYAN engaged children aged 5 to 16. The team introduced them to GYAN’s plans and guided them on building confidence in all aspects of life.
‎



‎The children also received practical training in basic music, smoothie making, and responsible use of mobile phones for productivity, to support their growth and reduce dependence on parents and caregivers.
‎
‎Also speaking at the event, the Headmistress of Sunny Skies Modern School, Miss Barbara Offeibea, commended GYAN for the interactive and impactful session.

‎She noted that in line with the Ghana Education Service directive, practical and hands-on skills must form part of the school curriculum, because not every child will work in an office. She emphasized that diverse skills are essential for national development.




‎
‎Miss Offeibea expressed gratitude to GYAN’s leadership and team, and called on other like-minded NGOs to support efforts aimed at shaping African children for the future.

‎Some of the pupils also shared their excitement about the knowledge gained and expressed hope for more engagements with GYAN as they grow.
