APP Leader Urges NPP to Cancel Demonstration, Denies Threats to Ghana's Democracy

ACCRA, Ghana — Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah, the founder and leader of the Action People’s Party (APP), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to cancel its planned demonstration against the current administration.


Addressing the press, Asamoah criticized the NPP's protest theme—"Ghana's Democracy is Under Attack"—arguing that the claim is misleading and damaging to the country's international reputation. He emphasized that Ghana maintains a strong democratic record across Africa that must be protected.


"No, the NPP cannot destroy the good image of Ghana by their actions against the sitting government," Asamoah stated, adding that economic hardships are actively being addressed under President John Dramani Mahama's leadership.


Asamoah urged the Ghanaian public not to participate in the protest, calling the exercise unnecessary. He advised the NPP to resolve its internal grievances rather than projecting a negative image of the nation abroad.
