Maiden ‘CRAFTARA’ Art and Craft Exhibition Opens at W.E.B. Du Bois Centre in Accra

ACCRA, Ghana — The National Commission on Culture, in collaboration with strategic partners, has officially opened the maiden edition of "CRAFTARA," a 10-day international art and craft exhibition held at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture in Cantonments, Accra. Running under the theme “Connect, Create, Celebrate,” the event brings together artists and craftspeople from across Africa to showcase the continent's rich heritage.


A Fusion of State and Traditional Vision

Speaking to the press during the launch, the Acting Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Wilfree Kwaku, commended the organizers for the initiative.

He highlighted the event's unique foundation, noting that it combines national administrative backing with traditional royal authority.


Mr. Kwaku emphasized that every piece on display carries a distinct story designed to promote Ghanaian and African culture globally. He urged the public to patronize the 10-day event to support local artisans and preserve national heritage.


Strengthening Diaspora Engagement and Trade

Nana Kyere Agyemang, representing the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency, expressed enthusiasm over the strong presence of diaspora representatives.

He noted that the platform will boost intra-African trade and create partnership opportunities between diaspora investors and Ghanaian entrepreneurs.


"As we promote these businesses, we also promote our culture. Culture is all we need to put Ghana on the global map," Nana Agyemang stated, reaffirming his office's commitment to collaborating with the diaspora to drive industry growth.
