The Global Evangelical Church has officially convened its Mini Synod 2026, centered on the biblical theme "Chosen and Appointed to Bear Lasting Fruit" (John 15:16).

‎The event brought together church executives, community leaders, and government representatives to address critical national issues—ranging from youth development and educational reform to environmental management and civic harmony.

‎

‎Reclaiming Character Formation in Education

‎Speaking as the Guest of Honor, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, emphasized the urgent need to overhaul Ghana’s educational framework by prioritizing character development alongside academic learning.

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim,

‎In his address to the press, Hon. Ibrahim reflected on the foundational influence of early mission schools:

‎"When early missionaries introduced modern education to our nation, they didn't merely teach academics—they trained both the hands and minds through holistic education and character formation. True national development relies on honesty, credibility, dedication, and respect for authority. 

‎


‎Without these core values, meaningful progress remains out of reach."


‎Hon. Ibrahim warned that neglecting moral and ethical education has contributed significantly to a rise in social vices among the youth, including substance abuse and the pursuit of quick wealth through illegal means.

‎

‎He called on religious bodies to prioritize the establishment of basic mission schools to instill strong moral principles from early childhood, noting that leaders must be intentionally trained and nurtured from the ground up.

‎

‎Promoting Pan-African Unity, Civic Duty, and Healthcare

‎The Church leadership ,Rev,Dr.Smith Frances echoed the Minister’s call for societal transformation, addressing key national and continental priorities:

‎Eliminating Xenophobia: Leaders urged African nations to reject xenophobic attitudes, emphasizing that division hinders continental growth and unity.

‎Environmental Responsibility: The public was urged to adopt proactive environmental habits—specifically refraining from dumping waste into drainage systems and avoiding construction on waterways—to prevent severe flooding and protect local livelihoods.

‎


‎Healthcare Advancement: ,Dr.Smith Frances  expressed sincere gratitude to Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim and the Presidency for facilitating an ambulance for the church’s newly constructed hospital, significantly enhancing local emergency healthcare services.

‎

‎A Call for Balanced Noise Regulations

‎Addressing the annual traditional ban on drumming and noise-making, church leaders appealed to government authorities and traditional custodians for a balanced approach.

‎

‎While reaffirming respect for cultural traditions, the leadership advocated for regulations centered on noise minimization rather than outright restrictions, ensuring that public worship activities can continue unhindered while maintaining peace and mutual respect between religious institutions and traditional authorities.
