Adentan Assembly Commissions Ultra-Modern Amahia Health Center to Boost Local Healthcare

AMAHIA, GHANA — The Adentan Municipal Assembly has officially commissioned an ultra-modern health facility and staff residential quarters in Amrahia, expanding 24-hour medical access for residents across the constituency. Led by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo alongside the local Member of Parliament, the project marks a significant step in upgrading community clinics into standard health centers.


Addressing Local Healthcare Needs

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Nongo highlighted the urgency behind the project, noting that residents in Amahia and surrounding areas previously faced severe challenges accessing prompt medical attention. The new center is fully equipped to deliver round-the-clock emergency, outpatient, and maternal care.



To ensure uninterrupted 24-hour operations, the Assembly integrated onsite staff apartments into the project, allowing medical personnel to reside on-location for faster response times.




"Constructing this modern facility and staff quarters was treated with a sense of urgency to alleviate the stress residents faced when seeking urgent healthcare," Hon. Nongo stated. She encouraged the Amahia community to maintain the facility so it can serve the area effectively for years to come.

Decentralized Funding and Assembly Autonomy

Hon. Nongo commended the President of Ghana for prioritizing local governance through enhanced financial decentralization. She noted that allocating 80% of the District Assemblies' Common Fund directly to local authorities allows assemblies to operate with greater independence and respond rapidly to urgent infrastructure gaps in health and education.

Enhanced Clinical and Maternal Services

Municipal Director of Health Services for Adentan, Dr. Priscilla Anima Poku, praised the Assembly and Member of Parliament for completing the facility within a short timeframe.




Dr. Poku emphasized that the addition of staff accommodations will improve operational stability, enabling the health center to deliver consistent Outpatient Department (OPD) services, family healthcare, and improved maternal care to reduce emergency risks in the municipality.
