Adentan Municipal Assembly Commissions 18-Unit School Blocks to Enhance Basic Education

ADENTAN, GHANA — The Adentan Municipal Assembly, led by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo alongside the local Member of Parliament, has officially commissioned three major educational projects in the constituency.


 The developments align with the government's broader initiative to upgrade educational infrastructure across districts using decentralised funding.




The commissioned projects feature 18-unit classroom structures serving the Otanor Presby area and the Asiyie Kose electoral area, as well as the final 22-unit phase of the Adentan Community School block.




 A health facility, the Amahia Clinic, was also formally commissioned alongside the school infrastructure.


Strategic Allocation of Funds

Speaking to journalists during the ceremony, Hon. Nongo highlighted that 80% of the Assembly’s District Assemblies' Common Fund allocation was strategically channeled into priority community needs, strictly following statutory usage guidelines.

"Part of this allocation was specifically targeted at education to ensure that every electoral area within the municipality is equipped with a modern basic school under proper supervision," Hon. Nongo stated.




Reflecting on her tenure, the MCE noted that addressing infrastructural deficits in local education had been a priority since her term as an Assembly Member, effectively ending previous reports of students learning under temporary conditions or trees.


Furniture Distribution and Road Infrastructure

In addition to the facilities, the Assembly distributed 3,641 pieces of furniture across 36 school units within the Adentan Municipality.




 Hon. Nongo urged school administrators and teachers to maintain the newly provided assets. She further confirmed that the Assembly is working closely with the constituency MP to secure road repairs leading into Adentan, with completion targeted for next year.




Stakeholder Reactions

Municipal Education Director, Madam Gifty Mussey, commended the Assembly’s efforts, noting that the opening of the 18-unit blocks has significantly expanded access to basic education for local children.

She also announced plans for future school expansions in Amahia to accommodate growing enrollment numbers, while urging educators to maximize instructional time.


Adding to the remarks, Adentan Constituency Communications Officer Chris Kpordzo expressed satisfaction with the utilization of the Common Fund,

He said particularly regarding the 12-classroom component at the community school, and urged residents to support ongoing development initiatives across the municipality.
