Ghana Education Service Partner Clarifies EduPack Distribution Guidelines Amid Forced-Purchase Claims

ACCRA, Ghana — EduPack, a school supply distribution initiative operated by Prospectors Ghana Limited, has addressed recent public speculation regarding its ongoing partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES).


Speaking to journalists at Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, Mrs. Evelyn Sarpong, Chief Operations Officer of Prospectors Ghana Limited, refuted claims that the company is utilizing GES authority to mandate the purchase of its student supply packs.


"We are not hiding behind the Ghana Education Service to enforce delivery," Sarpong clarified. "We operate with the official support of the GES, but the distribution is by no means compulsory."


Addressing Infestations and Affordability

The EduPack system provides four core boarding essentials, including plastic trunk boxes, pillows, and specialized mattresses designed to improve student sanitation.


According to Sarpong, the initiative was developed to tackle recurring pest outbreaks in public boarding institutions, citing severe bedbug infestations reported across the Eastern and Greater Accra regions in recent years. Non-porous plastic trunk boxes and treated bedding are intended to minimize micro-habitats where pests thrive.


Prospectors Ghana Limited stated its primary objective is ensuring high-grade, pest-resistant boarding materials remain financially accessible to all demographics.


Regional Rollout and Procurement

The organization is currently executing a targeted rollout across 20 selected secondary schools within the Greater Accra Region before expanding operations nationally.


School administrations and parents are encouraged to utilize early procurement channels to streamline supply logistics ahead of upcoming academic terms.


"We urge the public to disregard reports of forced sales," Sarpong reiterated. "Our goal is simply to offer parents a convenient, affordable, and hygienic option for their wards."
