‎Yaa Wahab Foundation & CAMFED Celebrate Eyisam School, Call for Education & Development Focus


.‎The Yaa Wahab Foundation, in collaboration with the CAMFED Association Ekumfi District, has recognized and honored several basic schools during a graduation ceremony held at Ekumfi Eyisam in the Central Region. The event, which focused on preschool and Basic Six transitional pupils, underscored the importance of prioritizing education and fostering community development.

‎Gracefields Preparatory School (Ekumfi Eyisam)

‎Ekumfi Nanaben Basic School

‎Ekumfi Engow Basic School

‎Ekumfi Techiman Islamic Basic School

‎The ceremony served as a platform to inspire young learners and engage stakeholders on the shared responsibility of nurturing future leaders through education.


 


‎The event, held under the theme “Sowing the Seed of Knowledge, Harvesting Success”, celebrated the transition of 40 pupils and sought to reinforce the value of education in shaping the future of young Ghanaian.



‎Gracing the occasion was the Queen Mother of the Mankessim Traditional Area, Dr. Nana Ama Amissah III, who delivered a stirring keynote address. She urged parents to give their utmost care and attention to their children, emphasizing that the investment in their upbringing today would yield great rewards in the future.

‎Her Royal Majesty also advised the pupils, particularly girls, to pursue education diligently and avoid early pregnancy, warning that such setbacks could derail their dreams and aspirations. “Bring glory to your parents by taking your education seriously and staying away from premarital sex,” she urged.



‎Dr. Nana Ama Amissah III also emphasized the importance of hygiene among children and youth, calling on both boys and girls to maintain good personal hygiene for their overall well-being. She commended the teachers of Eyisam Methodist Basic School and others in the community for their dedication and commitment to shaping a brighter future for the children.



‎In a strong message to community elders, she called for an end to the inflow of harmful drugs into the country, warning that drug abuse is contributing significantly to rising crime among Ghanaian youth. “Without proper control over what we introduce into our society, we risk losing an entire generation of potential leaders,” she cautioned.

‎Founder of the Yaa Wahab Foundation, Mr. Umar Suraj, echoed the Queen Mother’s sentiments, urging pupils to focus on their studies and encouraging teachers to create supportive learning environments. He appealed to the community to rise above political divisions and work collectively toward local development.



‎“As our foundation’s motto goes, ‘To Give Back to the Community,’ we are committed to initiating projects including a resource center to enhance learning opportunities for students,” Mr. Suraj announced.

Headmistress of Eyisam Methodist Basic School, Miss Mary Eduah, described the graduation ceremony as a historic milestone and a motivation for both parents and students. She highlighted the need for improved teaching materials and support, noting that student absenteeism is often due to the lack of essential educational resources.



‎Miss Eduah also called on the government to strengthen the school feeding programme, describing it as a vital intervention to improve attendance and learning outcomes. She expressed optimism about increased enrollment in the next academic year, inspired by the success of the graduation event.



‎The occasion brought together parents, community leaders, educators, and stakeholders, all rallying around a shared vision to nurture and empower the next generation through quality education and community-driven progress.
