As part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the 2NS Achoribo Foundation extended its breast cancer education and screening initiative to the Saduase K.K.M.A Junior High School and the Mensah Bar community in Dodowa, under the theme “Educating Breast Cancer Death Through Awareness and Screening for Girls.”
Speaking to the media during the outreach, Rev. Sister Anthonio Orgi, a counseling psychologist with the foundation, emphasized the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer. According to Rev. Sister Orgi, the foundation conducted both educational sessions and screenings for students and staff. During the exercise, a few students were found with developing skin tags and were referred to hospitals for further medical evaluation , discouraging the use of home remedies to treat such conditions.
She further urged students to prioritize their health, emphasizing that medical care should not be replaced with spirituality or home treatments alone. Rev. Sister Orgi added that the foundation looks forward to expanding its awareness campaign across Ghana to ensure no one is left behind.
Adding his voice, Mr. Steven Tim Benda, a Physician Assistant at Magical Center, advised parents to be intentional about their children’s health practices, such as maintaining good personal hygiene and regular hand washing to prevent infections. He also called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to incorporate regular health education into the school curriculum by collaborating with healthcare professionals to educate students on disease prevention and healthy living.
